Let Me Tell You A Story.
Several years ago, a client's grandmother passed away. She had left her a series of framed postcards from the 1920's. Her grandmother had embroidered the paper picturing the beautiful costumes of dancers from Spain, Germany, Belgium, and Greece. In her childhood, she would often look at these pictures in her grandmother's house, begging to hear the travel stories, imagining the way the costumes must have felt as her grandmother danced in similar ones. She played dress up, pretending to be those folk dancers. As a young adult, she dreamed of travel to the same places to retrace her grandmother's steps. When her grandmother passed away though, her Father's family had no idea how special they were to her. She thought they were gone for good. They were the ONLY THING she ever wanted to remember her grandmother, the once international folk dancer by.
How she wished she would have planned ahead.
Fortunately for her, grandma did, in her own way, and left a note with the pictures in a box to give them to her, and the family did. They didn't have to! It would have been better, that she had an estate plan with each precious item spelled out.
